EASTER RUGBY

Napier Old Boys Down To Wellington TEN P0INTS T0 NIL In an intereating game of Rugby played on a wet ground, victory went to Wellington College Old Boys against Napier H.Si.O.B., at JMcLcan Park, Napier, on Satnrday afternoon. The game did not produce football of a high 6tandard, but interest was maintained throughout, the final score of 10 to nil being a fair indication of the respective merits of the two sides. A short run by Hawkins placed Napier on attack soon after the start of play, bixt Sadler found touch in Napier territory with a nicely-judged low kick. Soon. after, the sam©;. player secured near the line and wriggled through for the first try. Baldwin goaled from a short kick and after less than five minutes' play Wellington were five points up. A free kick soon after saved another try when Wellington were on the line. The territorial advantage remained with the visitors, who kept on ihe Napier line for long periods. Linklater once cut in dangerously, only to be stopped on the line, and, although Clothier cleared, play was again swept to the line. The first good move by Napier was originated by Clothiei*, who secured from a scrum at the half-way mark, dummied, and sent Butler halfway to the line with a burst of speed. The subsequent scramble reached the line} but Napier were sent back by a penalty. Excitement rose when Souness snapped up a stray kick at the half-way line, and dashed off to the Napier line. He was pulled up 15 yards from his goal, and Hart, who xvas on hand to take the pass, just missed scoring. Tha hal^-time score was 1 Wellington 5 Napier 0 Play in the second spell was more even, but the pace was slower. Flashes of individual brilliance livened things including a display of dummying by Sadler which earned the appreciation of the spectators- Napier twice went close to scoring. Following a period of hammering at the Napier line, Souness secured and went thrGugh to score between the posts. Baldwin converted and the final whistle sounded soon after. Mr R. McGlashan was the referee. *
