Sherenden Gathering

The annual meeting of the Sherenden Women 's Institute was held in the Sherenden Hall on Tuesdy. The meeting opened with the singing of the Ode, and the election of the president and members of the committee was carried out, Mrs Boyd being unanimously reelected president. „ Mrs White, the secretary, gave a brief summary o£ the last year's work, which showed that the members had been very busy during the year, and a programme for the April meeting was made. The roll call for the day was a joke, which caused a good deal of amusement as everyone was ready with an entertaining anecdote. • After a delightful afternoon tea had been served, the competitions, the floral section of whieh had been very eagerly contested, were judged, the results being as follow: Best jar of preserves, senior: Mrs A. Whyte 1, Mrs A. Whyte 2, Mrs Tresider 3; junior: Misa N. Connor 1, Miss N. Connor 2. Best plate of pikelets: Mrs Butt 1. Best bloom in garden, senior: Mrs, Attwood 1, Mrs Butt 2, Mrs McGrane 3; junior: Miss M. Attwood 1, Miss N. Connor 2. Best i bowl decorated in five minutes, senior: Mrs Treseder 1, Mrs Butt 2, Mrs A. Whyte 3; junior: Miss M. Attwood I,. Miss N. Renner 2, Miss N. Connor 3. Largest amount potatoes grown from three tuberls, senior: Mrs Butt 1, Mrs Gibson 2; junior: Miss N. Connor 1.
