KOTEMAORI GROUP

The annual meeting of the Kotemaori Women 's Institute was held in the Kotemaori Hall, when Mrs Moran presided over a good attendance of members. Visitors also were present, including Mrs Riggar and 'Mrs Baker. The annual report was read and adopted. The following committee was elected: Mrs C: Harris, president;' Mrs C. Bee, vice-president; Mrs L. Jones, secretary;- and Mrs S. Jones, treasurer (re-elected); Mesdames Parsons, Gavin and Haliburton. Mrs Riggar gave a most interesting talk on the correet use of funds, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mrs Baker then demonstrated how to make dusters and mops from a fleece, also a gardening - apron from a sugar bag, and a "bouquet" of boiled lollies, and displayed ruany other u'seful arfcicles she had brought with her. Mr Harris presented Mrs Moran, Mrs McArthur and Mrs S. Jones, retiring president, secretary and treasurer, also Mrs Baker and Mrs Riggar, with lovely shoulder sprays. The remainder of the afternoon was «pent in games and singing. Mesdames Baker, Moran, L. Jones, Harris and Gavin were the winners of the various competitions. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Miss Haliburton, Miss Gavin and Mrs Gavin.
