"Last of the Pagans" "Last of the Pagans," the romanee of the South Sea native life, filmed in the five months' expedition of Richard Thorpe, director, and the M.G.M. expedition comes to the Waipukurau Theatre to-night, Easter Thursday. It is played amid scenes so beautiful that they are literally breath-taking, ombellished with such thrills as a potash mine cave-in, a battle between Maia, the hero, and a wild boar, thrills of swordfish and shark hunting, and a furioUs island typhoon, and the picture covers the gamut of island life from its intimate family existence and its fantastic native ceremonies to its most exciting moments. Thorpe 's deft direction brings out each point with artistry. On the same programme will be shown Laurel and Hardy in "Fixer Uppers." Reservations at Hawke's, phone 282. Easter Saturday at 2.30 and 8 The drama in the lives of two people separated by their devotion for their countries is brought tft the screen in "Till We Meet Again," yvhich comes to the Waipukurau Theatre on Saturday at 2.30 and 8. The plot presents Herbert Marshall, a loyal Englishman, and Gertrude Micliael, his Viennese sweetheart, as two theatre players in Lond'on, who intend to be married. Their wedding plans are wreeked by the declaiation of war, and Marshall joins his colours while Miss Michael, who, unkonwn to her fiance, is a member of the German Secret gervice, place's herself under the orders of her commanding officer. Marshall ia assigned to the British Intelligence Department, and because of his knowledge of German, is sent into the enemy country disguised as a German soldier. Miss Michael is also stationed in Gerraany, where she meets Marshall. Tho cast supporting Herbert Marshall includes Gertrude Michael, Lionel Atwill, Rod La Roque, Guy Bates Post and other notable players. The supporting programme includes a Popeye the Sailor cartoon. Easter Monday — Janet Gaynor and Robert Taylor in "Small Town Girls." Easter Tuesday — Diclc Powell and ltuby Keeler in "Colleen."
