(Received 25, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, March 24. Recent attempts to exftcerbat© AngloItalxan telations, which havo becoine more prevalent after Signor Mussolini'e outburst when addressingj the Fascist assembly from the V enice Palace today,. are greatly deprecated in British offieial quarters, where, nevertheless, uneasiness exists. The Australian A&sociated Presa gathers that Whitehall, while disagreeing with reports that tension is more strained than at any time eince the trouble in the Mediterranean in 1935. nevertheless believes that the poSition requires very careful handling. Signor Mussolini's speech is interpreted as due to his anger on his return on discovering the extent of the prominence given to the defeat of the Italians in Spain, in conjunction wxth his displeasure with the troops and his attempt to cover up tbe rebuff to Itaiian prestige.
