The Otane railway trucking yards presented a scene of unusual . activity when a mob of 2500 sheep was trucked and dispatched by special train to'tbe King Country. The sheep had come from Hick's Bay and notwitbstanding that they had been on the roads for 66 days, they arrived in excelleut condition. Not on6 was lost on the way. The coastal route was used as this o-tt'ered the best provision of food and water. The mob was in charge of three drovers, and Otane was reached on the day and hour worked out before leaving. Otane Labour Party. At a meeting of the Otane branch of the Labour Party new officers were elected as follow: President, Mr G. Huston; vice-president, Mr Baikie; secretary, Mr Ewen Cameron. It was decided to hold fortnightly dances to raise money to assist the Labour Party' s election campaign fund.
