WELLINGTON, This Day. Beveral contracts have been let by the Government for the erection of holmes in Johnsville and Christehurch as a further development of the State housing scheme. The Johnsonville tenders for five houeeg in, ceparatb ceu? tracts were called mainly to give small builders a chance to measnre their prices against those of large flrmg, It is claimed that th© results show that the Housing Department has received the best possible prices. Qver 50 tenders were received for the Christchurch Iiouses, and the lowest tenders for the different contracts were accepted, flve different builders for 15 Of the 48 houses wer© declined, and fresh tenders will shortly he invited.
