WELLINGTON, Thas Day. Four scholarships in veterinary scieaca have been awarded this year by th« New Zealand Government, and three of the gtudents selected hav© already left for Australia to commence their atucSes at tha Sydney University Veterinary CJollege. The other student intends to take his course at the Bbyal (Piek) Veterinary College, Edinburgh. Th© holders of the scholarships takinff their veterinary cousrse at Sydney, are:-»Ian G. Watt, M-Sc., qf Upper Hutt; Georgo AUan Thomabn, of Btusa* din; D. W. Newman, of Broadwedd, Hokiahga. Thq fourth gtudent, Ian M, Brown, will leave New. Zealand . for Edinburgh in time to commence the veterinary course in Oetober nest at thq Royal (Diek) Veterinary Oollege, The 10 students whq have' been granted these seholarships, six last year and four this year, have entered into agreements with thei New Zealand Government that 'they will undertake after qualifying to return to New Zealand in soane veterinary capacity, and' that if there are vacaneies for veterinary surgeons in the Department of Agriculture the department shall h«?# iirst cafl on their services.
