SATURDAY WEDDING HELD IN NAPIER
Hammonci — Eddy St. Augustme'n Cliutfch, Napier was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Saturday evening, when the Rev. S. R. Gardiner united jn tho honds of holy matrimony, joyce Alma Eddy, elder daughter of Mrs G. W. Jane, Thackeray street, Napier, and William Hammond, second son of Mr and Mrs W. F. Hammond, Owen street, Napier. The church was decorated by friends of the bride, an archway in white and silver being set at chancel steps and suspended overhead wero twiu tvedding bells. ! The bride was escorfed by her stepfather, who gave her away. She wore a wedding gown of white satin fashioned with a short train, The fitting bodice had a cowl-draped neckline, and open cowl-draped shoulders and tiny satin. buttons finished the lolxg closefitting sleeves. Erom a narroW halo of orange blossom, the vfeil Of silkfembroidered tulle was arranged aftd fell as a long train. It was lent to the bride by a cousin. A shower hotiquet or roses, dahliaS and lillies arranged with forn and ticd with satiii stfeamers completed the ensemble. The bridesmaids were the MisSes Lydia Jane (ohief) cousin of the bride, and Mona Hammond, cousia of the bridegroom. They were frocked aliko m lace, the forrner in pale ciel blue and the latter in buttercup yellow, The frocks Were toade over an. under* dress of satin and fell jn graceful folds to the feet. Sashes of panne velvet finished with a bow encircled the wai&t line. Eacb wore a shoulder spray and head bandeau of flowers to tone with their frocks. Lace mittens and shoes also matched and they carried a bouquet to tone. They also wore the bridegroom' s gift, a silver and diamante ne'cklet. Tho duties of best mah were carried Out by Mr Clarence Eddy, brcrther Of the bride, and those of grooinsmah by Mr Gordon Guthrie, Clive. Mr E. 0. Jameson presided at the otgan. After tbe ceremony, about 70 guests were entertained at the Ohoral Hall, which was gaily streamered in green, blue and yellow from a central white bell. All the usual toasts wero honoured at the wedding siipper and a dance followed. The bride' s going-away frock was in navy blue with hat and shoes to tone. She carried a fawn tWeed coat. Guests were received by Mrs G. W, Jane, mother of tbe bride, who was suiartly attired in wine lace inlet with panels of silk crepe and finished with tiny buttons at the back. Her matching toque had an eye-veiling finish and she carrjed a botiquet of floWei'S to tone tied with gold ribbon. She was assisted by Mrs VV. F. Hamfond, mother of the bridegroom, who Was frotiked itt beech-browa corded silk smartly inlet with fawp crepe-de-chine. The hat of browil strnw worn, was trimmed with brown and fawn ribbun. She carried a bouquet of red flowers and wore a shouldor posy to match. The relatives present were: Mr G. W. Jane (stepfather of the bride), Mrs McKay (Dannevirke), grandtnotker of the bride, u/earing black marocain witli white relief and black hat. Mrs CofLVei-y (Gore) slster of the bride, black silk marocain with collar of lemon silk, shady black hat. Mrs G. Jane (Wairoa) fioral blue marocain with hat to tone. Mrs A. Jane, fawn floral marocain with hat to tone. Mrs J. Matthews (Wellington), sister of the bridegroom, wearing a fawn tailored costume with white lace blouse, brown straw hat and fox fur. Mrs S. E. Hammond, aunt of the bridegroom, attractive ensemble of black georgette and lace, the georgette cuatee scalloped in white. With it was worn a black straw hat with geranium red flowers and she wore a shoulder posy to match. Mrs M. A. Hammond, graiidmother of the bridegroom, wore navy blue fioral marocain Uiider a coat of navy silk and with navy straw hat. Mrs H. J. Hammond (Waipukurau), oousin of the bridegroom, blue marocain fiowered in pink worn \Vith shady blue hat. Miss Cara Hammond, cousin, dainty frock of buttercup crepe-de-chinfe smocked in blue aud worn with lemon stl'ftW hat. Mr W. f. Hammond (father of the bridegroom), Mr Si E. Hammond (uncle of tbe bridegroom), Mr A. W. Hammond, Waipukurau (uncle of the bridegroom), Mr J. Hammond (brotber of the bridegroom), Messrs Mai Hammond, Napier, H. J., L. B., and L. H. Hammond, Waipukurau (cousins).
