' *« The story is told at a brisk pace and thrilling action aboards, while tho backgrounds are well staged and convincing. Randolph Scott displays a pleasan.t personality as Hawkeye, the hero, Binnie Barnes and Heather Angel are attraetive in contrasting styles as two English girls, and Heniy Wilcoxon acts well as a stifl? obstinate English officer. "The Last of the Mohicans" is a monuoiental piece of fiction, oue of the greatest books ever written, translated into a score of languages, with a secure place in world literature. Its chief ■jharacters — Hawkeye, Uncas, Magua — are full-blooded characters, familiar and alive.
