PORANGAHAU W.I.

The annual general meeting of the Porangahau Women 's Institute was held on Friday afternoon, Mrs. Hobson presiding over a good attendance, The report and balance sheet were adopted and the following officers were eleeted: President, Miss K. Green; vice-presi-dents, Mrs. Black and Mrs. Hobson; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Somervilie; eommittee, Mesdames Forrest, O'Connor, Ward, Tutaki, Ropiha, Board, Thomas and Miss White. Delegates chosen to attend the annual meeting of the federation were Miss Green and Mrs Somerville. Miss White won the points prize for the year's competitions and Mrs. Somerville won the prize for the most entries. It was decided to hold a shop day for the Plunket Society on April 3. Mrs. Black, on behalf of the members, presented Mrs. Hobson, the retiring president, with a beautfiul vase in recognition of her services.
