MINISTERS FOR NAPIER
Hons. F. Langstone And R. Semple It is not .thought likely that there will be any Napier deputations to be presented to the Hon. F. Langstone, Minister of Lands, when he visits Napier next week on his way to Wai--roa and Gisborne. He will pass through Napier on his return, spending the night of March 21 here. The Minister leaves Wellington on the express on Tuesday, and will not remain in Napier, as he intends to go on to Wairoa the same evening and spend the night there. Following a slay at Wairoa he will Visit Gisborne, returning in about a week. A visit to Napier will also be paid this month by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon.- R. Semple. He will be presented by a petition signed by ratepayers in the Meeaae drainage district, asking the Government to take over eontrol of the old Tutaekuri riverbed from the Taradale road to the floodgate at the Westshore embankment. It is held that such a course would facili, tate the drainage of the Meeanee district. In view of the reclamation work being undertaken by the Public Works Department on the Ahuriri Lagoon, it is held that the drainage of Meeanee Should be incorporated in that scheme.
