HARGREAVES—AVISON

St Peter's Church, Waipawa, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Wednesday afternoon when Phyliss Alice, daughter of Mrs and the late Mr J. Avison, Waipawa, was married to Robert Edward, son of Mrs and the late Mr H. Hargreaves, late of Nelson. Tho Rev. Mr Drake performed the ceremony, and Mra Drake presided at the organ. Escorted by her uncle, Mr Prank Avison, Dannevirke, the bride made a charming picture in her wedding gown of magnolia satin smartly cut with co'wl front, puffed sleeves to the elbow and tight-fitting to the wrist, a spray of orange blossom giving a pleasing effect to the corsage. A beautifully embroidered silk not veil, arranged with a coronet of pearls and, orange blossom, fell softly into folds forming a train; white satin shoes and a bouquet of white asters, sweet peas and maiden-liair fern, coinpleted her attractive ensemble. Attending the bride was Miss Kathleen Avison, wearing a floral georgotte frock in pastel tonings, hat, shoes and gloves of palest primrose, and carrying a .bouquet of asters in shades of pink and heliotrope. She also wore a signet ring, a gift from the bridegroom. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Nelson Avison. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horse-shoe by little Beverley Marsh. The reception was held at the "Dainties" fcea-rooms, the floral deeorations being in accordance with the flowers of the bridal party. Mrs J. Avison received her guests wearing a navy blue ensemble and carrying a posy of deep crimson roses. Assisting her was the bridegroom 's mother in a smartly cut frock of navy silk marocain and holding a posy of pale mauve asters and maidenhair fern. The bride and groom later left on their honeymoon, the former looking very smart in a black costume with blouse of rose-pink, small black hat and eyeveil and accessories to tone. In the evening friends gathered at the home of the bride 's mother where the many beautiful wedding presents were on view. Included in tbe gifts was the beautiful wedding veil worn by the bride, a gift from Mr and Mrs M. Blackman. The bouquets and posies were tho gifts of Mrs A. Baker, of Hastings. The fnture home of Mr anfl Mr« R. Hargreaves will be at Patangata, Waipawa.
