Sit-Down Strikers Attacked NEW YORK, Feb. 27. Sit-down strikes continu© to occupy the centre of the stagje. These are sponmred by Mr John Lewis and the Committee for Industrial Organisation and its campaign is aimed at Industrial Dnion control of the American Federation of Labour. At" Waukegan 60 sheriffs' deputies, nnploying a wooden tower mounted on x truck, blasted 75 sit-down strikers :rom th© Fansteel Company's plant xfter an hour's barrage with tear gas xnd knock-out gas. The towers were backed against the vindows and cai'tricfgo after cartridge xoured gas into the strikers, who hurl3d back bolts, pulley whe©l& and metal :'ragments. The latter were ultimately eompelled to vacate the factory.
