Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stokes, Enfield road, Napier, celebrated their golden wedding recently at their home, a very very pleasant afternoon being spent by the visitors. The large ropm, where the anniversary breakfast was laid, was decorated in accordance with the occasion in yellow and gold flowers. The guests present included the committee of the W.C.T.U. On behalf of these ladies, Mrs. Hull presented Mrs. Stokes with a beautiful Victorian posy, an extremely useful reading lamp, and a fine unglazed jng. In addition to these, Mr. and Mrs. Stokes received many other beautiful gifts from friends in all parts of New Zealand. Mrs. Oliver read numerous congratulatory telegrams. Mrs. Lewis proposed the toast and wished the couple many more years of health and happiness, Mr. Stokes suitably responding. The singing of Auld Lang Syne brought the pleasant function to a close.
