PLUNKET GARDEN PARTY HELD AT WAIPUKURAU

The weather was glorious on Saturday afternoon for the garden party arranged by Miss Aurelia -Hobson in con-> neetion with the Waipukurau Plunlcet. Carnival and held in the Vicarage garden, lent by Canon and Mrs. E, D. Rice for the' occasion. , No doubt owing to many eounter attractions, the at-' tendance was not so large as antieipated, but those who did attend spent a l

very enjoyable afternoon. The various competitions arranged by Mrs. F. J. Dunbar, wno was assisted by Miss Wendy Browne, Mr. Don Braithwaite and other helpers, were well patronised as was also a cake stall (Mrs. F. Hewitt) and the ice-cream stall (Misses Hazel Moorhead, Mary Buchanan and Sheila McLauchlan). Very intriguing was the mystery lady, represented by Mrs. Harry Carlyon, who had many visitors during- tb» afternoon. Refreshing afternoon tea was served on the verandah under the supervision of Mesdames W. A. Chambers, F. R. McWilliam and Miss Aurelia Hobson. A cake guessing competition, in the charge of Mrs. Hewitt, was won by Mrs. Bevan. The Girl Guides in their smart unir forms were of great assistanee helping in many ways., - •
