COMING-OUT DANCE GIVEN AT PORAITE FOR MISS JUNE JOHNSON
Young folk from Hastings and Napier enjoyed a particulai'ly bright and jolly coming-out dance last eveni.ig, which was given at the lovely hoiue of Mr and Mrs B. R. Menzies, Poraite, for -their niece, Miss June Johnson. The guests were welcomed by Mr aud Mrs B. R. Menzies, their daughter Mrs Roy. Ciltertson and Miss Betty Jomison. Mrs Menzies wore a gown of deep oeean blue pame veivet caUght at tiie neck with a silver filigree clasp. Mrs Gilbertson's gown of deep periwinkle blue georgette threaded with silver was worn with a sash of silver lame and clasps of brilliants at the shouMe-s. Mis_s Betty .iohnson wore coronatiou blue cotelle with a halter neckline in front edged with a narrow piait of th^ sarue material which forined. the sho ilder.- strapa. A.. model- gown of off-white souple satin was worn by. the guest of honour, Aliss Juno Johnson. This was fashidied with capeiet sleeves, shirred ac'fhe shcildei to form i narrow stand up l'rili". The skirt was very . flare.1 ' from the, knees to hem and a ban-j of ghiiring. below the waistline was continued •ip the corsage in front to io'rra ' a' fi'ill mauning' thafc b-n the capelei>3 and giv ing a beart-sh'aped neckline, the ' back t'ding'cut to'a low V and «jau=lw with tiny "satin-covered buttons At-'. t'ne waist was • a wide quilted' belt caught in 'lront with' a large" silver ; clasp. jShe wore a - bandeau of - tiny pink flowers and brocaded satin shoes and : her posy -was of . pink rosebuds -and- carnations with • blue love-in-the-mist: and inaidenhair fern. , The ballroom was gaily decorated with - clusters • of - bright' Dalloons' and here daneing ■ was ■ enjoyed to • musio ■played by' Miss Betty Cooper. A ijelieious- supper with savouries and • hot coifee- was -enjoyed by everyone. A very jolly eveniiig . was brought to a close with; the. singing of "For She's a - Jolly f Good' Fellow,?' and the National Anthem. - The guests . invited .were : Mr and Mrs Roy .
