Plan to Prevent Blazes After Air Attacks 200,000 MEN .WANTED
(Received 24, 1.25 p.m.) • RUGBY,' Feb. 23. An emergency fire brigade organisation against air attack with incendiary bombs was the subject of a statement by the Home Secretary in the House of Commons. The oiganisation suggested will involve the accumulation in peace time of large stocks of emergency fire-fighting appliances. It is estimated that 200,000 physically fit men will be required to'carry out the Government 's plan for supplementary fire-fighting services. The men will need to devote two or three evenings a week for three months for training. They will each receive a grant of £3 plus £5 for equipment.
