GUILD MUSIC CIRCLE ELECTS OFFICERS FOR NEW SEASON

One of the first activities of the Hastings Townswomen's Guild for the new year was the annuai meeting ot the musie circle, which was held iast Eriday evening at the Methodist Hall. Mrs A. p. Glenny presided and the meeting was a hearty and enthusiastie one. The annuai report was read by the secretary (Mrs Y. L. Westerman). It showed that the circle had maintaiued throughout the year the high standard set at its inauguration three years ago. The circle members had not only. provided programmes of real merit at their own meetings, but they had also supplied items at the general Guild meetings. In addition, they had vieited other guilds and institutes and given interesting programmes at their meetings Great appreciation was expressed in the report of the capable leadership of Mrs A. B. Macdonald, who had resigned in July owing to her removal to Wairoa. The present leader, Mrs G. Marsicano, was re-elected to that position, and all *the circle members expre&sed their pleasure at her willingness to undertake the leadership. Miss B. McHutchon was re-elected deputy-leader and accompaniste, and the following circle members were elected to the committee for the ensuing year: Mesdames G. Marsicano, V. L. Westerman, A. J. Smith, Anderson, Jenkinson, Younge and Macauley, and Miss McHutchon. It was • decided to resume circle activities on Thursday, March 4, when an entertaining "impromptu evening" would be held in the Girle' Friendly Hall at 7.30 p.m. On this occasion every member would be expected to provide an item for the programme or gay a fine. All intending members are heartily invited to this social evening, together with friends of other circlen of the Guild who are interested in the work of the music circle.
