AUCKLAND, Last Night. Because they claim, that many classes |Of workers' compensation insuraneo 1 business have been made unprofitable . through extra liabilities imposed by bbe Workers' Compensation Amendment Aet of last session, insurance companies , have been engaged in negotiations | with the Government, which so far j have proved unsuccessful, to : bring about an increase- in insurance pra.* iniums. As an outcome of the refusal of the -Prime Minister to authorise au increase in premiums by tEe State ' Insurance Department, some of jthe sinall companies have decided to act independently of the State office and have circulaxised clients intimating inerease3 | in subsequent premiums of 15 per cent.
