Miller SM m the Napier Magistrate's Court this morning when admitting a 21-yehr-old Maori narned William Wallace to two yeais probation on charges of damaglpffr.aA^a?ier, Gas Company meter at .Port Ahuim to the value of 5/6, stealmg from the meter the sum of 4/- and stealmg a key, valued at 2/6, tlie property of Peter Chalmers. The accused appeared in Court in answer to the charges on Friday last. when the question of penalty was dererred. In Court this morning the Magistrate made it a special condition of the probation that the accused should make good the damage done to the meter and to repay the stolen money. Wallace was before the Court last .Tuly on a eharge of unlawful conversion of a motor-car, but otherwise his record was clear, a.dded Mr Miller, k h.
