Hastings Citizens' Band Welcomed SATISFIED WITH WORK Tkere was a big erowd of townspeople assembled at the clock tower last evening to welcome the Hastings Citizens' Band home again after its visit to Nelson for the New Zealand bands championship contest. The band, which arrived by speeially-commission-ed bus, was greeted with prolonged cheering as it disembarked from the vehicle, and there was a lengthy period during which congratulations and welcomes were extended. "We had a great time all through, and the band played at its best. We are quite satished with our successes, ' ' said the conductor, Mr. Chas. Bryant. The band returned with £30 in prizemoney and had the most uttushal ex* perience of being placed thifd in everything in which it competed. "We, at least, were consistent if nothing else," commented Mr. Bryant with a smile. Before the band left Nelson the MayOr kad approached the bandsmen and congratulated them Upon the excellence Of their conduct and discipline during their stay in Nelson.
