TAKAPAU MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Takapau Women 's lnstitute was held in the Public Hall, Takapau, on Thursday afternoon, when tiiere was a good attendance of members presided over by the president, Mrs. W. B. White. A vote of condolcnce was passed to the relaixves of the late Mrs. Bibby, Waipawa, who was a staunch supporter of the luBtitute movement. Two new members and several visitrng members were welcomed. . Nomiualions for the new year's committee were received; The roll call item, "An insect we most disliked," caused some amusement. Appreciated pianoforte duets were given by Mrs. Mullen and Miss Quirk. A hearty vote of thanks was aecorded to Mrs. Hanna for h'er good work in connection with'the lnstitute exhibit at the Waipukurau Show and Messrs. C. Thomson and J. Mullen were thanked for carrying goods to the show. A flour bag competition resulted: Mrs. Robertson 1, Miss Seymor 2, Mesdames W. B. White and Mrs. P. Sanders 3 (equal). Thore was a big bring and buy competition aand also an original written competition which was much enjoyed. The afternoon tea hostesses were: Mesdames Buchanan, R. Waltefs, A. E. Andersdn and Miss'Woolcott.
