SERVICE TO EDUCATION
Tributes to Work oi Mr R. C Wright BOARD CHAIRMAN'S EULOGY Glowing tributes to tlie services rendered to education in Napier and the district by Mr R. G. Wright, who has resigned from the Hawke's Bay Education Board for health reasons, were paid by the chairman, Mr G. A. Maddison, in his report, which was adopted at this morning' s meeting of the board in Napier. "He has been a member of the board for eleven years as a representative of the Napier schools, and during that long period of service no-one has been more indefatigable in his efforts to promote the welfare not only of the children of Napier, but of children generally," said Mr Maddison. "For many years Mr Wright was also closely associated with the Technical School in Napier, and much of the success which attended its development was due to his untiring efforte. He has also taken particular interest as a member of tlie board in the deVelopment of manual training in this district, and it has always been a matter for regret to him that the board has so far been unsuccessful in securing the extension of manual training that is necessary in order to bring the district into line with other portions of New Zealand. "I propose to move that the board record in the minutes its very high appreciation of his services, and its deepest regret at his retirement from the board; and I feel sure that you will all join withi me in wishing him a speedy restoration ta good health," Mr Maddison added. Other board members endorsed Mr Maddison' s comments.
