Australian Swimmers At Te Awa Club Night 'last night's results Keen competition against members of the Australian surf team was offered by members of the Te Awa Swimming and Life-Saving Club at tha weekly carnival in the Napier Public Baths last night. Although the water was cold, being only 61 degrees, some 6f the times were most satislactoiy, and there were some exciting finishoa. The leading feature of the night was the fast swimming of Hart (Australia) in the 440 yards open handicap. Although finishing only fourth, he covered the distance in 5min. 27 3-5secs. It wa-s stated at the baths last night that this was the fastest time ever established for this distance m the Napier baths, but this is not cso, as D. P. Lindsay, of Canterbury, covered the distance in 5mm. 21secs. at Napier during) the New Zeaiand championships of r933.
