There was a full hench of huyers and competition was keen throughout the sale and was sometimes animated. It was estimated that the return Would average easily 16d per lb. and between £21 and £22 per bale. The averageg price per lb. last February was 8.7d and the price per bale about £13 10/-. > The top - price for the sale was Beeured by Andrewts and Darricott, of Eyre Creek, on whose account six bales of fine Corriedale ewe wool was •old at 25$d. - A New Zealand record price was set for crutcfiings, a bin of a super line bringing 19|d. It should be explained that crutchings are not part of the Woollen trade. They are bought for the carpet business. Bradford took a high percentage of ike offerxng, specialising in crossbwds snd halfbreds, and Japan was in the ■aarket to some extent, but it was difficult to assess the quantity she lifted. Some lines of long, strong and sound hoggets realised about 20d asd uome round about £ld. Bellies and pieces were bought eagerfy and locks were in keen demand. Complimentary reference to the Southland clip was made by the buyers. Eollowing is the range of prices, those for the first sale last year also being given: —
