"WELLINGTON, Last Night. At a meeting of the Wellington Coal Merchants' and JDealers' Association, consideration was given to a uotifieatioxi i!rom the shipping companies that i'reight charges 011 New Zealand seaborne coal would be increased to the extent of 2s 6d per ton and the following resolution was carried unanimously:— "That this meeting of the Wellington Coal Merchants' and Dealers ' Association regrets that it is necessary to increase the price o± New Zealand seaborne coal by 2d per cwt. for cwt. lots up to 4 cwt., 9d for quarter-ton lots, Is 3d for half-ton lots and 2s 6d per ton, while coal nuts are to be increased to 2d per cwt." .The new piic.ee take effect from Mon-
