DANNEVIRKE SHOW
Record Entries in Many Classes The Dannevirke A. and P. Association has justification for being elated over the splendid response by intending exhibitors at the annual show next Tuesday and Wednesday. Record entries have been Teceived in horses, not including draughts (which are also a record), sheep, dogs and fleece wool, while the cattle entries are the largest since 1930, when they touched the record mark of 395. Not only have new figures been made in' the sections -mentioned, but in several they have left the former records far behind, so that the show promises to be outstanding in every respect. ' • ■ The following "comparative table show the entries received (home industries are post entry):-^-
The substantial increase in the horse classes is particularly gratifying, as farmers nowadays are devoting more attention to the use of horses on the farms. Entries in the Southdown sheep section ' are so numerous that the services of an extra judge will be necessary, while Romneys also number 100.
Dog fanciers have availed themselves eagerly of the opportunity of getting the opinion of a visiting judge to New Zealand, Captain Hughes. The show will- be an outstanding one, while the entertainment at the evening sessions should afford variety and relaxation. The entries for the ram fair en Thursday, February 11, are numerous, and patrons should appreciate the ronvenienee of the new rostrum, erected at a cost of several hundred pounds.
