(By Telegraph—
AUCKLAND, This day. The forced prolongation of their stay on Hen Island in the Hen and Chickens group off Whangarei Heads proved profitable t5 five Auckland Iseientists, including Mr.- R. A. Falla, the newlyappointed director of the Canterbury Museum. The scientists were forced to spend four extra days on the island owing to the fact that the launch which was to have picked them up was deiayed through engine trouble. Eventually the police were advised and a party was sent out to rescue the marooned scientists, who had been able to eke out provisiona and do additional field work. "We had an interesting and profitable time despite the inconvenience. The island is an excellent sanetuary, 1-ich in plant, bird and insect life," said Mr. Falla.
