VANDALS WARNED
Damage Done in Hastings Reserves DESTRUCTION T0 STOP A warning that no aympathy would be extended to vandals, and an appeal to the Citizens of Hastings to protec't their public reserves wete issued this morning by the Mayor, Mr G. A. Mad* dison, who stated that the Hastings Borough Council was very perturbed over the acts of vandalism committed reeently in Queeu's Square. One act of wanton cleajbruction wkich the Mayor referred to in mentioning this matter was the breaking of three eiectric light globes, used m the il* lumination of Queen's Square. Each of these lamps was valued at £2, Mr Maddison stated, and the Borough Council did not feel disposed to go fco th© expense of roplacing these damaged lights if such offences against good citizenship wero to continue. The Borough Council took a sGrious view of such acts of vandalism, Mr Maddison said, and th© authoritiew wero' not going to extend any leniency to th© culprits if they were discovered. It was the borough's intention to pro* secute to the liinit of the law if th« offenders wero traced. In conclusion, Mr Maddison appeaied to the body of citizens of Hastings to safeguard their property, and invited them to lend their aid to ihe Borough Council in putting a stop to sUch dentrUcti.on, ___________
