All pleadcd guilty and fines of £1 and costs 10/^were imposed in each case. Outlining the ease, Detective B. Farquaharson said that to oombat sheepaf ealing a law had been passed that sJieep could not be conveyed after half an hour atter sunset unless by speciai permit. Uarriers in Hastings had not been observing this law, and this season they had not been obtaining the necessary permits A watch was therefore inade on several nights, resulting in th© defendants being caught.
