SYDNEY, June 19. The death occurred to-day of Patrolman lan Mack, victim of a native ambush .in New 'Guinea.

A previous message stated that Mack and a party of New Guinea police who were pursuing escaped prisoners on June 14 were attacked by other natives. The latter had already killed the escapees and thought the poiicte were ay punitive expedition to avenge this orime. They were routed and given a sharp lesson, although during the scrimmage four arrows shrunk Mack and a police boy was hit.
