It was- decided that the lower scale of provincial levy should he paid by the local associations of Kaponga, Opunake, Manaia. Toko, Patea, and Alton, and the higher levy by New Plymouth, Stratford and Hawera. It was reported by the secretary that the Dominion levy of 6d payable by individual Guides and Brownies was now due. Mils Morrison spoke on the training of Guiders and hoped that as many as possible would attend . the proposed training ca.mp at New Plymouth under Misis Joyce Dutliie, Wellington Blue Cord G-mider. As soon ais ’ plans were! finalised the centres would be advised. Delegates reported on the work pf their districts, which was generally of an encouraging nature. At Patea great interest was taken in the Guides and Brownies by members of the community and both Guides, and Brownies were in a flourishing condition. An invitation to the Hiawera Guides Was extended iby Patea to attend the opening of the Turi memorial in July. Mrs Houston reported on the formation of a Brownie, pack at Alton with Miss Foremaai as Brown Owl. She spoke of the .good work that had been done a|t Alton by Miss A. Gibibs and Miss A. Burnand, who had carried on i the Guide company prior to the formation of a. local association in their district. She paid a tribute to the kindly interest taken in the company by the Patea Local Association, who had administered the affairs of Alton in the pa;st. It spoke well for the growth of the movement in Alton that they were now able to branch out for themselves. The work at Opunake, Manaia and Pateiaj was in the hands of enthusiastic local associations. Guiders who could give the time to the efficient management of companies and partes were difficult to find in the country Centres and for this reason both Manaia. and Opunake were- unable to form Brownie partes. It was hoped that .suitable persons would come forward. At Hawera community work had not been overlooked, Guides l helping where possible for the good of their town. The formation of a Rla.ngeir company: was being undertaken by Mrs W. Fossey and it now •nily remained to find a club room for the girls to meet in. The Mayoress, Mrs J. E.
