SCREEN BEAUTY CONTEST
PRIZE TRIP TO HOLLYWOOD
The Hawera Opera House has been given exclusive rights by Paramount (live.) for this district in connection with the screen beauty contest now being conducted throughout New Zealand. The object is to find the “.perfect” man and woman to represent New Zealand in. a picture to be made at Hollywood entitled “‘The Search for Beauty,” in which there will be representatives of seven British countries and eight representatives of various parts of the United States. The successful participants will -be given a free return trip to Hollywood and guaranteed a minimum engagement of five weeks at a salary of £lO a week. In addition there -will be a prize of 1400 for the contestant judged to have given the best performance in the finished screen-play. There are to be no stage parades nor popular votes in connection with this contest. The judging will be performed in Hawera by a committee from ph olographs in Jtiio first" instance., followou. by personal interviews. Photo-o-raphs of the selected candidates in the local contest will be forwarded to Wel-mgton. Should the Wellington committee desire a candidate to appear before it, to participate in the final selection, a free trip to the capital city will be provided by the promoters. The contest closes on July 8.
