SHORT-HAIRED GIRLS.

BOBBED NURSES BANNED

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COP 1l RIGHT LONDON, Nov. 12. The problem of bobbing or shingling hair by women workers continues to be discussed in the feminine pages of the newspapers. Recently the Lyons Company decided that its tea-shop girls, who hitherto were not allowed to bob’ could do as they liked. Now the right of hospital nurses to bob and shingle is questioned. To-day the Romford Board of Guardians decidcd, that no member of the nursing staffs should be allowed to bob or shingle, that short-haired women must immediately allow their hair to grow.

A woman member of the board strongly urged that bobbed hair was hygienic, and asked if the patients wanted hair in their food. Other opponents of the board’s order asked if it was proposed to forbid the use of face powder and high heels.
