WAVE OF CRIME.
POSITION IN MELBOURNE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Oct. 29, 11.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, Oct. 29. The returns of crimes reported to the detectives office show that last week the number was nearly a record. In all 122 thefts of property were notified, owners estimating the value at £4300 having been stolen during the week-end alone.
