FEDERAL ATTORNEYS RESIGN. LIQUOR LAW ENFORCEMENT. DERELICTION OF .DUTY. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Oct. 29, 10.35 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 27. Mrs Willpbrandt’s charge of derelictions in the prohibition enforcement cabled on October 22 was confirmed by the Attorney-General (Mr Stone), who, after conferring with Mr Coolidge, announced that }vlrs Willebrandt’s disclosures had already resulted in the resignations of six Federal attorneys and the impending retirement of four others.
Mr Stone -added that Mrs Willebrandt’s letter caused great intensification in the enforcement throughout the country. Moreover, the Department of Justice has been investigating charges of lax enforcement and is acting whereever conditions warranted. Mr Stone declines to disclose the identities of those who resigned. [Mrs Willebrandt, assistant Attor-ney-General, made allegations of wholesale graft against prohibition officials, and the above is the sequel.]
