’ COUNCILLORS FINED. (BY TELEGKAPn—rRRKH ASSOCIATION.) ? MASTERTON, Sept. 26. In the Supreme Court the Mayor (Mr. Pragnell) and eleven other councillors and ex-councillors of the Masterton Borough Council were each fined £5 for illegally transferring money ‘from a special loan account, which was in credit, to the general account, which was in debt, in order to save overdraft interest. The prosecution was brought by the Audit Department. In the case of Jacob Johnston versus the International Harvester Company, a claim for damages for removing a milking plant from plaintiff’s farm and trespass, the jury returned a. verdict that plaintiff was entitled to damages for the engine £56, vacuum pump £25, other milking parts £IOO, and trespass £IOO.
