A CHARGE OF ASSAULT. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, July 31. At the Supreme Court to-day Maurice Burns Ward was charged with assault on his sister.so as to cause her actual bodily 'harm; also with common assault. In. the lower court proceedings last Thursday, Florence Ida Boulton, tho woman who was allegedly assaulted, said she did not remember the night when she received injuries to her helad. She remembered going to post a letter, and the next thing she remembered wa-s being in hospital. Her brother was very drunk that evening. She was now living with him, and had no reason to fear him. Medical evidence was given that loss of memory might be due to the injuries. The defence was that the accused was drunk and did not know what he was doing. A verdict of not guilty was returned, and the accused was discharged.
