HAWERA TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL.

BOARD MEETING. At the ordinary meeting of the Board of Managers there were present Mr. R. S. Sage (chair), Mrs. Gilbert, Messrs. Hobbs, E’ntwistle, Harding, Murdoch and Lennon. The headmaster (Mr. A. Gray) was also in attendance. HEADMASTER’S REPORT. The films taken of the school activities last year were shown recently, and gave some idea of the work being done. At the winter show the home science girls gave several demonstrations of cooking, and the school is indebted to Mr. Cawsev, of the Gas Company, for very complete arrangements; also to Mr. L. O. Hooker of the Winter Show Company for much assistance. During the month the agriculture bqys listened to a very instructive lecture from Mr. A. Bayley on “How to detect diseases in animals.” This is the first ol a- series of lectures which Mr. Bayley has promised to- give. I feel sure that the system of agriculture instruction which 1 outlined at last meeting will prove a success. During the football match recently played with New Plymouth Technical College one of our players, I. Nicholas, had the misfortune to break his collar-bone \Ve are indebted to Mr. W. Shaw, of the park store, for rendering first aid and supplying stimulants for the sufferer. GENERAL. It was resolved to employ casual labour for a week at the hostel. Mr. Hobbs -submitted a plan of the bicycle shed, and it was decided to ask the department for half cost up to £l_o Mr. Hobbs was cordially thanked for his assistance. It was reported that the grounds committee had decided to make rosebeds from the main entrance to the corner of the school on each side, and tlmt the work had been commenced. \ otes of thanks were passed to Messrs. A. Bayley and W. Shaw for assistance given. The accounts for the month were parsed for payment, and the board then adjourned.
