Golli has been sentenced to death for the murder of Sanor Canovas. Cape Town, August 16. A deputation from the meeting hold at Cape Town to advocate the abolition of the duty on imported meat waited upon Sir -James Seivwright, Commissioner of Railways and Public Works. In reply to tljeir representations, Sir James assured the deputation that the majority of the population of the colony did not desire the abolition of the meat duties, but added that if the prices of meat were excessive he would invite the Orange Free State to consent to a temporary suspension of the duty. Brisbane, August 16. Sir Charles Lilley has suffered a relapse and is in a very critical state.
