FOUNDATION STONE LAID BY ARCHBISHOP REDWOOD.

Archbishop Redwood laid the foundation stone of the Catholic School at Waipavva yesterday. During the course of his speech His Grace alluded to the liberality of Mr Sydney Johnston, who donated the site at a cost of £B2O, and he said the school would be a lasting memorial of the beneficent reign of Queen Victoria. As the representative of the Catholic Church in the colony he deemed it his duty to publicly express his gratitude to her Majesty for the perfect liberty of conscience allowed to all her subjects during her long reign. Nowhere in the world was such liberty of worship enjoyed.
