Advices from Buas, one of the centres of trade on the Niger Protectorate, state that King Boussa declined to accept an offer made by the French to quell the native rebellion, and asked assistance from the Niger Company's forces. The French thereupon threatened the King, and aided the rebels in burning the town of Wawa. One hundred natives at Wawa were killed.
