Parliamentary Notes.

Wellington, This day,
It has been decided to establish a pigeon service for all isolated lighthouses, so as to bring them into touch with the centres of population. The plan is to establish three training depots for birds, one on Soame's Island, which is now being proceeded with ; one at Dog Island, in Foveaux Straits, and one at some spot to be chosen near Auckland. Dog island is to be connected by electric submarine cable. There is no foundation in the report published by the Christchurch Press that Mr Saunders, the member for Selwyn, was offered and refused the Treasurership. Mr Wi Pere's Native Land Bill provides for the appointment of Maori Judges, - with powers limited to the original investigation of titles to Native lands and appeals in relation thereto, and for the appointment of European assessors to sit with the Native Judges. The Estimates will again come under review in the House to-morrow. An attack is to be made on the number of clerks, permanent and extra, employed in connection with the Lands Department.
