The Escaped Prisoner.
SECURED BY THE POLICE. Nelson, Sept. 6. All Saturday the police and warders were searching for the escaped prisoner Anderson. Constable Kelly went in the direction of Havelotk via Wakapuaka, tracking boot prints, which were visible occasionally, the wearer having walked in water where he could. ' On reaching the house of Mr Bird - in the Wangamoa Valley, the owjjter of which was absent, the constable stopped, watching, knowing there were firearms in the house, till the return of Bird, and at about half-past 6 on Saturday evening Bird's dog showed that someone was in the scrub. Kelly covere<J Anderson with a revolver and he then handcuffed him and brought him to town early this morning. The prisoner walked through part of the town on Friday night, and met a number of people, but said they had not noticed him.
