THE JOHANNESBURG RAID. MR RHODES FOUND GUILTY BY THE CAPE ASSEMBLY. C'ape Town, July 20. A majority report of the Committee of the Cape Assembly finds that Mr Mr Cecil Rhodes directed and controlled Dr -Tame son's raid, and his conduct was not consistent with a Premier's duty; and that, even if I)r Jameson was primarily answerable, Mr Rhodes was responsible for the final step, as his cheque covered the outlay and cleared the advances. The minority sent in a separate report, holding that Mr R1 ode-- was unaware of Dr Jameson's intention, and not liable personally for letters of the Chartered Company's officials to Dr Jameson. Major - General C'arrington has started for the Matappo hills. There is fear of famine among the rebels. The road to Fort Salisbury is about to he opened.
