Mr Rees in Wellington.

Mr W. L. Bees, the indefatigable Gisborne lawyer and ex-member of Parliament, is in Wellington just nowurging upon the Government the in elusion of a colonisation scheme of hia in their land policy. He wantthe Government to set aside 500.000 acres of land on the East Coast for settlement by emigrants from England, sent out by various Associations there, such as the Labour League, Temperance Organisation, &c. Each head of a famify should be granted the freehold of a 100 acres of land if the sad head possesses £lOO for expenditure upon settlement purposes. Mr Bees thinks the Associations referred to would be glad to avail themselves of the opportunity of turning the waste lands of the Crown into smiling homesteads, and that capital would be induced to come to the country thereby. If the exiieriment proved' a success on the East Coast, it could be extended to all parts of tho colony. Mr Hees who is a sanguine man man believes that the Government, to whom he has submitted a memorandum on the subject, will embody his scheme wholly or in part ia tbtic Und policy .---Lyttelton Times,
