Last Night’s Concert.
Tub concert in aid of the Garrison Band Fund came off last night at the Theatre Royal and was a great success. There was a very fair audience, but not so good as might have been expected. The various items on the programme were as a rule well rendered, although now and then there was evidence of not sufficient rehearsal. Where all did their best to make the affair a success it is not for us to individualise, but Miss Porter’s song with harp accompaniment, Miss Shelton’s “ Five O’clock Tea,” and Madame Stewart’s songs were amongst the most praiseworthy of the efforts. Encores were numerous and were generously responded to by the various performers. We trust that the bun l’s funds will be suitably augmented by the result of the concert, which must be accounted a complete success. Pressure on our space this m fining renders a longer notice iwpceailjle.
