Replying to questions last night at Otakeho, Major Atkinson said that in case of his return to office he should not bo in favour cl applying any percentage reductions to th# salaries of Civil servants, but would consider each case on its merits, and endeavour to arrange salaries as to make them about equivalent to what would be earned tor similar work outside the Government, servioe.
