CONTRACT LET FOR NEW BRIDGE AT KOKATAHI

A contract for the erection of a new reinforced concrete bridge at Kokatahi at approximately £30,000 has been let to Messrs W. A. Arnott and Sons, Greymouth. The bridge will replace the present timber truss structure which, over a period of years, has been seriously weakened by floods. The new bridge, which will be the largest bridge construction job on the West Coast for some years, is expected to take 18 months to complete. A start on the work will be made as soon as the steel and other materials are obtainable.
